As an individual who has grown up in a household with a successful family-run business, I truly understand the importance of work/life balance and the strategy it takes to maintain it, especially for small business owners.
Since I first embarked upon my career path, I've been all about working smart, not hard. Therefore, I assist my clients in finding innovative solutions that will lighten their growing workload, not add more to it. Moreover, I help my clients steer their efforts in the right direction, so their businesses can thrive without sacrificing their personal fulfillment.
After serving as an Accountant for as long as I have, I've been imparted with an array of opportunities, including working in public practices at national and mid-size CPA firms, local small businesses, and a top 10 Canadian University. In addition to my hands-on experience, I am a CPA and CGA, granting me an optimal foundation in accounting and taxes, as well as the necessary tools to help clients not only meet their goals but to exceed them.
When I'm not immersed in my career, I love to travel and go on outdoor adventures with my loved ones, from skiing and hiking to canoeing and fly fishing. And as a family, we enjoy embarking on unique journeys, whether it is seeking out the ultimate cup of coffee in the rain forests of Puerto Rico or searching for a Celtic ruin in some remote part of Ireland.
Throughout the course of over a decade, I have garnered extensive accounting expertise across multiple industries, including but not limited to travel, finance, and construction.
Education-wise, I received a Bachelor's degree (with honors) in Commerce and a Master in Business Administration degree from Laurentian University. I also hold two designations: a Certified General Accountant (CGA) and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). Dedicated to lifelong learning, I am enrolled in an In-depth Tax course from CICA (Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants)
Outside of the accounting world, I enjoy reading (a lot!) about science human behavior and I like to travel and learn about new cultures.
I received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting sciences and my CPA designation from the University du Québec en Outaouais and am a member of CPA Quebec. After gaining years of experience with both Big 4 and mid sized accounting firms, I am excited about being part of the future of accounting.
When I am not working virtually from the National Capital Region, I truly enjoy getting outside - hiking, biking, rock climbing, camping and exploring new places with friends and family.
I hope to help you work with the Flow CPA team to find the best accounting and administrative solutions for your business. One process or platform might work great for one organization but awful for another. We recognize this, and try to understand your needs before making blanket recommendations. I find solution-based problem solving and analysis very energizing so fortunately this is all right up my alley.
My most intriguing fun fact is my hometown. I grew up 800km north of Winnipeg in an incredible remote northern mining town called Flin Flon. Ask me about it and beware that we may chat for hours.
As a recent graduate from the University of British-Columbia, I’m excited to apply the skills I’ve acquired in my tenure towards a career in the innovative and exciting space that is cloud-based accounting.
Outside of work, I’m an avid boxer and world traveller, and in my spare time you can probably find me at the local coffee shop reading. In addition to my other interests, theres nothing I like better than just getting outside and enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Previous to accounting, I was in the Clinical Research field for over 3 years and various other job opportunities involving critical thinking, analysis and database management. In 2017, I felt my skills would be best utilized in accounting and customer service. Being well informed and in control of my own personal financial activities drives me to help others to do the same.
Working with Flow CPA has greatly enhanced my knowledge, skills and experience in handling different financial needs of various clients. I have gained practical experience using a variety of accounting software solutions such as Xero and QuickBooks to better serve my clients.
Outside of work I enjoy working out, restaurant hopping, and the great outdoors!
Accounting happens to be a career that I enjoyed doing in school and I am passionate about. My goal is to ensure clients achieve business success by helping them establish practical and sound financial processes. I am committed to delivering financial services that meet each client’s unique purposes.
Some of the things I enjoy doing outside work are biking around the city during the night with friends and reading web novels.
After attaining my degree, I went straight to test out whether I am interested in joining the industry or the public accounting. I found myself immersed on the techs available for accountants and bookkeepers, and have decided to pursue a position at a firm. For that, you can count on me to discover ways on how we can utilize the tech tools that are available for us.
While I am away from my desk, you can expect that I am spending some quality time with my dog and family, travelling around Asia, or exploring the world of gaming.
